Mission & Philosophy

KM Soccer Club is a player development program designed to help players develop skills for the next level and reach their highest potential possible. This is not a league or camp, it's a training program for young, inspired soccer players of all backgrounds who want to improve technically and tactically.

As former players and coaches, we want to be generous with our time. We want to give back to the community we all call home. We want to see players all across the Kings Mountain Area engage in the sport and develop individual skills. The fact is this: camps and leagues do serve their own purposes but often fail to help your child receive adequate and meaningful touches on the ball.

Ask yourself this question:
"How many times did my child touch the ball in his/her last soccer game?"

Likely, your answer to that question is less than twenty touches per game (if that). If our kids are to excel at this sport, they must regularly be in contact with the soccer ball. Our KM Soccer Club PDP guarantees many hundreds of touches per player each gathering. This will dramatically improve not only their individual ball skill, but it will increase their confidence and awareness of the game.

FAQ's

Q: Does KMSC replace local rec leagues?

A: No, KMSC is meant to support local rec leagues by increasing quality (and potentially quantity) of players and coaches.

Q: Should your child play other sports?

A: Yes, we highly encourage you to involve your child with a variety of sports so as to encourage their young bodies use and develop all-around skills and muscle groups.

Q: What are the ages for this Program Development Program?

A: Because this is a trial year, we are scaling KMSC to a certain age group. Players born on or before December 31, 2009 or on or after January 1, 2013 are ineligible to apply. We hope to offer this program to a wider variety of ages in the future.

Q: Do you play games in a league?

No, this is not a league where win/loss games are being played. This is a development program for young, inspired soccer players. We may or may not enter into official match play in the future. For now, our focus is on developing players in the greater Kings Mountain community.

Q: What is a "young, inspired player"?

A young, inspired player is a player who you don't have to force to play. They willingly and volitionally will play on their own (most of the time).

Q: How can we afford "club soccer"?

One of our goals with KMSC is to make it accessible families with young, inspired player(s). Our volunteer coaches make it possible for us to keep cost under $50 per year (currently $39).

Q: What if we miss a few sessions?

A: The ask is that families commit to regular attendance. We understand that things come up and many things may even take priority. We respect that, particularly with things relating to church and family. We are simply asking for a solid commitment of regular attendance.

Q: When do sessions occur?

A: Sessions occur Sunday afternoons from 4-5pm. See logistics information here

Q: Who is leading KMSC?

A: KMSC is being facilitated by a group of passionate, committed coaches in the Greater Kings Mountain Area. Both our coaches and administrative team will be announced early in 2018.  To note, the recently retired Kings Mountain Coach and USC Player Dan Potter will be serving as one of our coaches. You can watch his video here.

Q: What is required to be a KMSC Coach?

A: Having quality coaches is very important to us. You can see these qualifications here along with a job description we have made public.

Q: Is KMSC a non-profit?

A: Though we may seek non-profit status in the future, we are not currently a non-profit organization.

Q: I (or my business) would like to sponsor and partner with KMSC. How can we go about doing this?

A: We would be honored to consider you for sponsorship. You can contact us directly or go ahead and submit a sponsor application here

Q: How to do I register my child?

A: Registration is easy and takes less than 5 minutes to complete. Click here to register.
